French style Bergere chair, original design attributed to Nicolas-Quinibert Foliot, 1760.
This bergere chair has been gilded, and John Hodgson hand-created the original design for the fabric. This design has then been reproduced and printed onto the fabric by Susan Bembridge Designs.

The Bergere style settee

Having made the lovely bergere chair, John has now introduced the settee to match it and complete the set.
The legs are cabriole shaped with a gilt leaf design on the knee, the arms are fully upholstered at the sides. The lovely detail depicts flowers and scrolls in an elegant fashion.
The floral design on the upholstery has been printed from John's original hand-painted design.

Pre Louis XVI style, known as Transitional 1760-1775 gilt chaise longue or duchesse. The original design was attributed to Jacques-Jean-Baptiste Tilliard, and the piece was housed in the Chateau de Versailles.
The Louis XV outline of the piece is broken up by numerous projections bearing garlands of flowers, ribbons and other classical motifs.
This gilt chaise longue has been upholstered in the blue fabric taken from the deisgn from Castle Howard, in Yorkshire.
